| Background | Long-term incubation of proteins with glucose leads, through Schiff's base and Amadori rearrangement products, to the formation of advanced glycation end products (AGE).
RAGE, the receptor for AGE is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily and is exprimed e.g. by endothelial cells, mononuclear phagocytes, smooth muscle cells and neurons. RAGE and the deposition of AGE is involved in a number of pathologigical conditions such as nephropathy, Alzheimer's disease and arteriosclerosis. |

| Applications | Antibody AP02803SU-N is suitable for the detection of RAGE in tissues and tissue extracts.
Recommended dilutions: Immunohistochemistry on paraffin embedded tissues (1:400): in immunohistochemistry formalin-fixed tissues are pretreated preferentially with citrate buffer for 15-30 min at 100°C. Western blot (1:2000). ELISA (1:260000). Renal tissue is recommended as positive control. |
| Specificity | The antibody recognizes human Receptor for Advanced Glycation End Products (RAGE).
Due to amino acid sequence homology cross-reactivity with bovine, rat and mouse can be expected. |
| Storage | Store (in aliquots) at -20°C.
