| Background | The brain tissue of Alzheimers disease is characterized by an abundance of neurofibrillary tangles, neuropil threads and abnormal neuritis in senile plaques. Tau protein are microtubule-associate protein (MAPs), present in the tangles. |

| Applications | Immunohistochemistry: dilute 1:50-1:100 in an ABC method (30 minutes at room temperature).
Suitable for formlin fixed paraffin embedded sections (no special pretreatment is required). Recommended positive control: Alzheimer's disease brain. |
| Specificity | This antibody reacts with a 45-68 kD protein.
It stains neurofibrillary tangles, neuropil threads and neuritic plaques. It also stains astrocytes and ribosomes. Cellular localization: cytoplasmic. Species: Human. |
| Storage | Store the antibody undiluted at 2-8°C for one month or (in aliquots) at -20°C for longer.
Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Shelf life: one year from despatch. |
