| Background | The anti S-100 monoclonal antibody gives positive staining of glial and ependymal cells of the brain, Schwann cells of the peripheral nervous system, melanocytes and Langerhan's cells of the skin, and interdigitating reticulum cells in lymph nodes. Benign and malignant melanocytic tumors stain positively with the S-100 antibody. Anti-S-100 recognises the 21-24kDa proteins identified as the A and B subunits of the S-100 protein. |
