| Background | First named mouse TNFRH1 (tumor necrosis factor receptor homologue 1), mouse DcTRAILR1 (decoy TRAIL receptor 1) this protein has been confirmed to be a receptor for TRAIL using ligand-receptor binding assays. However, overexpression was not found to cause NF-kB activation or apoptosis, as would be expected of a TRAIL receptor. These observations lead researchers to rename the protein DcTRAILR1, or decoy TRAIL receptor 1. |
