| Rabbit Polyclonal anti-Glutamate receptor 1a (metabotropic) | |
| Background | Glutamate is the main excitatory neurotransmitter in the brain. For many years it had been considered to act only on the ligand-gated receptor channels-termed NMDA, AMPA and kainate receptors that are involved in the fast excitatory synaptic transmission. Glutamate has been shown to regulate enzymes producing second messengers via specific receptors coupled to G-proteins. These receptors are called metabotropic glutamate receptors. In expression systems, Group-I receptors, stimulate phospholipase C as revealed by an increase in phosphoinositide turnover, and Ca2+ release from internal stores. Group-II and -III receptors are coupled to the inhibition of adenylyl cyclase. The Group-I receptors include mGluR1a and mGluR5. The Group-II receptors include mGluR2 and mGluR3. |
| Immunogen | NB 300-123 was raised against a synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 1116-1130 of rat mGluR1a, with an N-appended
lysine coupled to thyroglobulin using glutaraldehyde. Swiss Num.: P23385 |
| Format | Purification: Affinity purified Purity: Affinity purified |
| Applications | Western Blot 1:1000+, Immunohistochemistry-Frozen 1:500-1:1000+, Immuno-EM |
| Specificity | Species: NB 300-123 reacts with rat mGluR1a. Other species have not been tested, but should work with most mammalian species due to sequence homology. This antibody does not cross-react with other splice variants or mGluR5. |
| Storage | Aliquot and store at -20C or -80C. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles. |
