| Rabbit Polyclonal anti-Catenin [Ser33/Ser37] | |
| Alternate names | anti-Beta-Catenin antibody, anti-B-Catenin antibody, anti-CTNNB antibody |
| Background | B-Catenin is a central component of the cadherin cell adhesion complex and plays an essential role in neural development in the Wingless/Wnt signaling pathway (Ding and Dale, 2002; Polakis, 2000). The role of B-catenin in these processes is thought regulated by the sequential phosphorylation of Ser29 Ser33, Ser37 and Thr41 by glycogen synthase kinase 3B (GSK3B) (Liu et al., 2002). This hyperphosphorylation promotes the ubiquitylation and targeted destruction of B-catenin. Mutations in components of this phosphorylation regulated process that prevent B-catenin hyperphosphorylation by GSK3B are strongly associated with cancers (Wang et al., 2003; Polakis, 2000; Liu et al., 2002). |
| Immunogen | Phosphopeptide corresponding to amino acid residues surrounding the phospho-Ser33,37 of human B-catenin. Swiss Num.: P35222 |
| Format | BufferSystem: 10 mM HEPES (pH 7.5), 150 mM NaCl, 0.1 mg/ml BSA and 50% glycerol |
| Applications | Western Blot 1:1,000 |
| Specificity | Species: Recognizes human and rat forms of B-catenin. Not tested in other species. The sequence of the immunogen is identical in human, mouse, rat and Xenopus. |
| Storage | Aliquot and store at -20C or -80C. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles. |
