| Alternate names | Breast and Kidney-expressed chemokine, CXCL14, bolekine, NJAC |
| Background | Breast and Kidney-expressed chemokine (BRAK) is a CXC chemokine expressed in normal tissue in the absence of inflammatory stimuli, and infrequently expressed in cancer cell lines. BRAK is known to be a highly selective monocyte chemoattractant. However, main function and receptor selectivity is unknown at this time. BRAK contains the four highly conserved cysteine residues present in CXC chemokines. The sequence of the mature protein consists of 87 amino acid residues, and is approximately 30% homologous to the sequences of MIP-2 alpha and beta. |
| Source | E. coli |
| Format | State: Sterile filtered through a 0.2 micron filter and lyophilized Purity: Greater than 98 % by SDS-PAGE and HPLC analyses Endotoxinlevel: < 0.1 ng per µg (1 EU/µg) Reconstitution: Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Restore in water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at 4°C for one week or at -20°C for future use. |
| Description | Recombinant human BRAK is a 9.4 kDa polypeptide containing 77 amino acid residues.
AASequence: SKCKCSRKGP KIRYSDVKKL EMKPKYPHCE EKMVIITTKS VSRYRGQEHC LHPKLQSTKR FIKWYNAWNE KRRVYEE Biological Activity: Determined by its ability to chemoattract activated monocytes using a concentration range of 1.0 - 10.0 ng/ml. |
| Storage | The lyophilized protein is stable at -20°C for one year from despatch.
Reconstituted BRAK is stable for three months when stored in working aliquots with a carrier protein at -20°C. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. |
