| Background | FZD4 is a Frizzled Receptor involved in mediating Wnt signaling. A splicing variant of frizzled-4, FZD4s, encodes a soluble-type positive regulator of the Wnt signaling pathway. Mutations in FZD4 are associated with retinal angiogenesis.
FZD4 is widely expressed, particularly in heart, skeletal muscle, ovary, and fetal kidney. Transcripts have also been identified in liver, kidney, pancreas, spleen, fetal lung, smaller amounts in placenta, adult lung, prostate, testis, colon, and fetal brain. FZD4 expression has not been reported in several cancer cell lines studied. ESTs have been isolated from adipose, adrenal, B-cell/lung/testis, bone marrow, brain, breast, colon, embryo, gallbladder, head/neck, heart, heart/melanocyte/uterus, kidney, liver, liver/spleen, lung, placenta, prostate, skeletal muscle, skin, and vessel libraries. |

Antigen retrieval: Steam slides in 0.01 M sodium citrate buffer, pH 6.0, at 99-100°C for 20 min. Remove from heat and let stand at room temperature in buffer for 20 min. Rinse in 1x TBS with Tween (TBST) for 1 min. at room temperature. |
