| Background | Rhodopsin is the first member identified in the Opsin subfamily of GPCRs. Rhodopsin mediates dim-light vision by maximally absorbing light at 495 nm. Mutations in rhodopsin cause retinitis pigmentosa, an inherited disease that initially causes night blindness and loss of the mid-peripheral visual field, and eventually leads to a total loss of vision.
Rhodopsin expression has been reported in the rod-shaped photoreceptor cells of the retina. |

Antigen retrieval: Steam slides in 0.01 M sodium citrate buffer, pH 6.0, at 99-100°C for 20 min. Remove from heat and let stand at room temperature in buffer for 20 min. Rinse in 1x TBS with Tween (TBST) for 1 min. at room temperature. |
