| Background | DBH is an oxidoreductase belonging to the copper Type II, ascorbate dependent monooxygenase family. DBH is the enzyme responsible for conversion of dopamine to noradrenaline. Tissue specificity consists of chromaffin granules of the adrenal medulla and synaptic vesicles of the sympatheic nervous system. It exists as both a soluble and membrane-bound form in chromaffin granules. |

Immunofluorescence: 1/5,000. In immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence procedures, this antibody specifically stains chromaffin cells of the adrenal medulla, and DBH containing cells of the sympathetic nervous system. Western Blot: 1/5,000. By Western blot, this antibody detects an ~72 kDa protein representing DBH from rat neurons. |
| Specificity | SP5428 detects human, bovine, rat and mouse DBH.
It is not effective for immunohistochemistry in human brain. Other species not tested. |
