| Background | RAGE, the Receptor for Advanced Glycation End products, was first identified based on its capacity to bind a glycoxidized form of albumin (1). This cell surface protein, RAGE, serves as a multiligand transmembrane receptor for non-enzymatically glyated adducts named â??advanced glycation endproducts (AGEs) (2). In normal tissues and vasculature, RAGE is expressed at low levels. However, RAGE expression will increase at sites of diabetic complications, inflammation, amyloidoses, and tumors (3-4). Studies demonstrate that binding of ligands to RAGE starts a series of cellular activation mediated by receptor-dependent signaling, which result in cellular dysfunction by the formation and persistence of ligands in the tissues (5-6). |

| Specificity | This antibody reacts predominantly with RAGE. In immunoblot analysis, a ~45 kDa immunoreactive protein was detected from A431cell lysate and multiple bands were observed from mouse lung cell lysate. These bands are abolished by the depletion of the immunized peptide. Species: Human, Bovine, mouse, rat. |
