Immunogen
Swiss Prot Num:
P33897
Immunogen:
Peptide with sequence C-EDMQRKGYSEQD, from the internal region of the protein sequence according to NP_000024.2.
Genename:
215
Antibody type Ab
Application Peptide ELISA: Antibody Detection Limit Dilution: 1/32000.
Western Blot: Preliminary experiments gave an approx. 50kDa band in Human Brain (Cerebellum) lysates after 1µg/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the calculated size of 82.9kDa according to NP_000024.2. The 50kDa band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide.
Background ABCD1 belongs to the ALD subfamily, of the superfamily of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters and is involved in peroxisomal import of fatty acids and/or fatty acyl-CoAs in the organelle. All known peroxisomal ABC transporters are half transporters which require a partner half transporter molecule to form a functional homodimeric or heterodimeric transporter. This peroxisomal membrane protein is likely involved in the peroxisomal transport or catabolism of very long chain fatty acids. Defects in this gene have been identified as the underlying cause of adrenoleukodystrophy, an X-chromosome recessively inherited demyelinating disorder of the nervous system.
