Background	VEGFR2 has high affinity binding sites for VEGF and displays ligand dependent phosphorylation on binding. It mediates mitogenesis and chemotaxis in intact cells. Germline mutagenesis in mice leads to a complete failure to develop endotheial cells and embryos die before embryonic day 10.
