Antibodies to SET1, SET7 and SET7/9
Introduction: Eukaryotic DNA is assembled with histone proteins to form nucleosomes, which are the basic repeating unit of chromatin. The methylation of lysine residues of histones plays a critical role in the regulation of chromatin structure and gene expression. Acetylation, phosphorylation and methylation of the amino-terminal tails of histone are thought to be involved in the regulation of chromatin structure and function. The enzymes identified in the methylation of specific lysine residue on histones belong to the SET family with just one exception.
Human SET1 (hSET-1) is a histone methyltransferase that may play a role in chromatin modification and meiotic differentiation.
SET7 Methyltransferase methylates lysine 4 (Lys 4) of histone H3. Methylation occurs at the e amino group of lysine residues. Di- and tri- methylation of histone H3 Lys 4 is a hallmark of transcriptionally active chromatin and is globally distributed.
Set7/9 is a histone methyltransferase (HMTase) that transfers methyl group to Lys4 of histone H3, in complex with S-adenosyl-L-methionine (AdoMet). Set7/9, unlike most other SET proteins, is exclusively a mono-methylase.
Antibody Tools for the Detection of Methyltransferases
Acris Antibodies offers antibodies to SET1, SET7 and SET7/9 which can be used in Western blot applications and / or ELISA.
Recombinant Human Set7/9 histone methyltransferase is also available.
