Introduction

Neuropeptide Y (NPY) is a neuropeptide colocalized and abundantly released with the neurotransmitter norepinephrine in the nervous system. It is synthesized by the postnatal olfactory epithelium of sustentacular cells. It promotes the proliferation of postnatal neuronal precursor cells and exhibits a diverse range of important physiologic activities, including effects on psychomotor activity, food intake, regulation of central endocrine secretion and potent vasoactive effects on the cardiovascular system.

Neuropeptide Y family of peptides signal through a family of G protein-coupled receptors present in the brain and sympathetic neurons. These NPY receptors (Y1-Y6) recognize NPY and related peptides.

Antibody Tools for detections of NPY Receptors Type 1 – 5

Acris Antibodies offers an thoroughly validated antibody panel to NPY receptors. These antibodies are useful for the detection of Neuropeptide Y Receptors by Western blotting; most of them can be used in immunohistochemical methods.
