Antibodies to ICOS (CD278) and ICOS Ligand (CD275) - FocusOn 014

ICOS (CD278, AILIM, CRP-1, Inducible T-cell costimulator) enhances T-cell responses to foreign antigens, participating in the stimulation of proliferation, secretion of lymphokines, up-regulation of molecules that mediate cell-cell interaction, and antibody secretion by B-cells. ICOS is critical in fostering T/B-cells interaction and for normal antibody responses to T-cell dependent antigens. Other immune response roles for ICOS include superinduction of interleukin-10 (IL-10) synthesis, thwarting apoptosis of pre-activated T-cells and assistance in CD40-mediated class switching of immunoglobin isotypes.

ICOS Ligand (CD275, ICOSLG, inducible T cell co stimulator ligand) is a member of the B7 family and the immunoglobulin superfamily. Human ICOS ligand is expressed by activated monocytes/macrophages and dendritic cells. It is the ligand for the T-cell-specific cell surface receptor ICOS (CD278, AILIM, CRP-1, Inducible T-cell costimulator), which is expressed by activated T cells. This interaction plays an important role in the T cell costimulation pathway. ICOS Ligand acts as a costimulatory signal for T-cell proliferation and cytokine secretion, and also induces B-cell proliferation and differentiation into plasma cells. ICOS Ligand may facilitate local tissue responses to inflammatory conditions, as well as in modulating the secondary immune response by co-stimulating memory T-cell function
