| Background | Native lipoteichoic acid (LTA) purified from Staphylococcus aureus.LTA is a linear polymer of phosphodiester-linked glycerol phosphate covalently attached to lipid. The lipid binds hydrophobically to the cell membrane and the polyglycerol phosphate portion extends into the cell wall.
