Datasheet Extract

Prokaryotic recombinant protein corresponding to a region which spans the tyrosine kinase catalytic domain and part of the C-terminus, corresponding to amino acids 419-520 of Human ALK.
Application IHC-P
Background ALK and L TK are receptor tyrosine kinases similar to the insulin receptor subfamily of kinases. L TK, leukocyte tyrosine kinase, is found in murine B-Lymphocyte precursors and in forebrain neurons. ALK, anaplastic lymphoma kinase, is usually found in the nervous system. A truncated form of ALK occurs in many non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. The ALK gene is on chromosome 2. Upon translocation between chromosome 2 and chromosome 5 [t(2;5}], the ALK gene fuses with the NPM gene. NPM, also known as nucleophosmin or B23, is an ubiquitous nucleolar phosphoprotein involved in the transport of pre-ribosomal components between the nucleolus and the cytoplasm. The chimeric product (NPM-ALK) resulting from t(2;5) translocation is a protein of 80kDa with the N-terminal portion of NPM linked to the complete intracellular portion of ALK. Karpas 299 and SU-DHL-1 lymphoid cell lines strongly express NPM-ALK.
