Application Flow cytometry: 1/5 - 1/10; use 10 µl of the suggested working dilution to label 106 cells. Immunohistochemistry on frozen and paraffin embedded sections: 1/5 - 1/10. This product does not require protein digestion pre-treatment of paraffin sections. This product does not require antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections. Positive control tissue: Breast Carcinoma. ELISA. This antibody is reported to work in Western blotting applications. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions of this antibody are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.

This antibody recognises the human CD176 cell surface antigen, also known as the Thomsen-Friedenreich (TF) antigen.
CD176 is a carbohydrate epitope carried by a variety of carrier proteins, such as MUC1. The epitope is expressed by varying levels by carcinomas (e.g. upon 85% of breast carcinoma), but it is masked or absent on almost all normal adult tissues. CD176 is also expressed by some CD34+ stem cells and by the KG1 cell line.
