Immunogen
Immunogen:
Fusion protein containing residues 529-668 from the intracellular domain of rat MuSK.
Application SP5000P has been successfully used in Western blot (1/100), immuno-fluorescence (1/30) and immunoprecipitation procedures. By Western blot, this antibody detects an ~110 kDa protein representing MuSK from mouse C2C12 cell lysate. Immunofluorescence staining of MuSK in adult rat gastrocnemius results in staining of cells within the neuromuscular junction. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions of this antibody are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.

Figure 1 (left) shows a diagram of the acetylcholine receptor signaling complex on the motor endplate post-synaptic membrane.
Storage Store the antibody at -20°C. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Shelf life: one year from despatch.

Specificity
Specificity:
Communication between cells is often mediated by receptors on the surface of the target cell that are triggered by specific ligands released by other cells. Receptor tyrosine kinase activity is strictly regulated by the binding of the appropriate ligand to the extracellular active site of the receptor. These types of receptors play a role critical in the growth and differentiation of different cell types.
A muscle specific kinase recently identified, termed MuSK for muscle-specific kinase, and has been shown to be specifically expressed in the muscle cells within the neuromuscular junction. MuSK has been shown to be part of the agrin signaling complex and plays an important role in the development and architectural maintenance of the neuromuscular junction.
SP5000P detects muscle-specific kinase (MuSK) from mouse and rat tissue samples.
