Immunogen:
A synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 476 - 503 (Cys-HLNRTPKQPAPKPEPSFSEYASVQVPRK) from the C terminal of human SHPS 1.
Background SIRPs are heterophilic adhesive membrane glycoproteins with three extracellular Ig like domains and a cytoplasmic domain with two immunoreceptor with tyrosine based inhibition motifs that can interact with src homology 2 domain containing phosphatases. SIRP inhibit signaling through receptor tyrosine kinases. SIRP is selectively expressed by myeloid cells and neurons. SIRP ligation induces nitric oxide production by macrophages. p84 is involved in receptor tyrosine kinase signaling at synapses in the mammalian central nervous system (CNS) and in non neural tissues. P84 binds to the integrin associated protein (IAP / CD47) and they represent a heterophilic binding pair likely to be involved in bi directional signaling at the synapse and in other tissues.
