Background A type of white blood cell derived from the thymus. T cells are of key importance to the immune system and are at the core of adaptive immunity, the system that tailors the body's immune response to specific pathogens. T cells do not produce antibodies but do produce a number of substances that regulate the immune response. There are two main subtypes: the CD4+ helper T cells and the CD8+ cytotoxic or suppressor T cells. This antibody immunoprecipitates a 67kDa protein from thymocytes.
Storage Store at 4C short term. Aliquot and store at -20C long term. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Specificity
Specificity:
NB100-65427 reacts with T cells. recognizes >90% thymocytes and 40-45% mesenteric lymph node cells. The antibody immunoprecipitates a 67kDa protein from thymocytes. Little evidence of B-cell activity. This antibody was initially reported as recognizing rabbit CD5 (1), but does not bind to rabbit CD5 transfectants. Known rabbit CD5 antibodies also show binding to most B lymphocytes (2), which are not labelled by this clone.

Rabbit
