Application | ELISA: 0.1 µg/ml (1/4000). Immunoprecipitation. Immunohistochemistry on Frozen Sections: 0.2 µg/ml (1/2000). Immunohistochemistry on Paraffin Sections (Does not react on routinely processed Paraffin Section). Does not react in Western Blot with reduced and denatured samples. |
Background | IgM antibodies form a major proportion of the primary antibody response, whereas the secondary response consists almost entirely of IgG. IgMs are often referred to as macroglobulins because of their high molecular weight. They form a pentameric structure consisting of five subunits and a single J-chain. Each subunit contains the well-known pairs of heavy and light chains, with the particular feature of the heavy (µ) chain containing one variable and four constant regions. The molecular weight of intact IgM is approximately 900kDa. In polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis under denaturing conditions, the heavy chain migrates as a band of approximately 85kDa. |
Concentration | 0.4 mg/ml IgG (after reconstitution) |
Storage | Store lyophilized at 2-8°C for 6 months or at -20°C long term. After reconstitution store the antibody undiluted at 2-8°C for one month or (in aliquots) at -20°C long term. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Shelf life: one year from despatch. |
