Background NBL1 is a transcription factor that may function as an inhibitor or repressor in cell growth and/or maintenance, and plays a role in the negative regulation of the cell cycle. It has a possible tumor suppressive activity when over expressed. Alternative splicing occurs at this locus and two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
