Background | Beta-lactamase is a type of enzyme(EC3.5.2.6) produced by some bacteria that is responsible for their resistanceto beta-lactam antibioticslike penicillins, cephalosporins, cephamycinsand carbapenems. These antibioticshave a common element in their molecular structure: a four-atom ring known as a beta-lactam. The lactamase enzyme breaks that ring open, deactivating the molecule's antibacterial properties. |
Concentration | 1.0 mg/ml (prior to lyophil.) |
Storage | Prior to reconstitution store at 2-8°C for one month or desiccated below -18°C. Following reconstitution store undiluted at 2-8°C for one month or (in aliquots) at -20°C for longer. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Shelf life: one year from despatch. |
