Background glpK also known as glycerol kinase, belongs to the FGGY kinase family. glpK function to catalyze the transfer of a phosphate group from ATP to glycerol, thereby forming glycerol phosphate. This intermediate can then be converted to dihydroxyacetone phosphate (DHAP), which is utilized in either glycolysis or gluconeogenesis.
Concentration 1.0 mg/ml (determined by bradford assay)
General Readings Freddolino,P.L., et al. (2012) J. Bacteriol. 194 (2), 303-306
Storage Store undiluted at 2-8°C for one week or (in aliquots) at -20°C to -80°C for longer.
Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
