Background

Very Low Density Lipoprotein including Apolipoproteins B-100, C-I, C-II, C-III, and E. VLDL transports hepatic synthesized triglycerides and cholesterol. May counteract inhibitory effect of glucocorticoids on arachidonic acid release and prostaglandin I2 formation in vascular smooth muscle cells.

Human Very Low Density Lipoprotein (VLDL). Single arc by IEP against antisera to whole human serum. Essentially free of other plasma lipoproteins as determined by electrophoresis using Fat Red 7B staining for lipids and Coomassie Blue for proteins.
Composition: 88-95% lipid; 5-12% protein.
