Background of PLCB4 antibody
The protein encoded by this gene catalyzes the formation of inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate and diacylglycerol from phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate. This reaction uses calcium as a cofactor and plays an important role in the intracellular transduction of many extracellular signals in the retina. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq]. Transcript Variant: This variant (2) lacks an alternate coding exon compared to variant 1, that causes a frameshift. The resulting isoform (b) is shorter and has a distinct C-terminus compared to isoform a. Publication Note: This RefSeq record includes a subset of the publications that are available for this gene.
