The hormone somatostatin has active 14 aa and 28 aa forms that are produced by alternate cleavage of the single preproprotein encoded by this gene. Somatostatin is expressed throughout the body and inhibits the release of numerous secondary hormones by binding to high-affinity G-protein-coupled somatostatin receptors. This hormone is an important regulator of the endocrine system through its interactions with pituitary growth hormone, thyroid stimulating hormone, and most hormones of the gastrointestinal tract. Somatostatin also affects rates of neurotransmission in the central nervous system and proliferation of both normal and tumorigenic cells. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008].
Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded human pancreas stained with Somatostatin Ab(Cat. AP00584) using peroxidase-conjugate and AEC chromogen. Note cytoplasmic staining of delta cells in the pancreatic islets.
Western Blot: Somatostatin Antibody [NB110-18025] - Western Blot Analysis: 1:500 dilution of this lot detected SOMATOSTATIN on 10 ug of HEK293 lysates. HEK293 lysate was resolved by electrophoresis, transferred to PVDF membrane and probed with anti-SOMATOSTATIN (1:500 dilution of this lot).
Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin: Somatostatin Antibody [NBP1-50490] - Human Brain, Cortex (formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded) stained with SST antibody at 5 ug/ml followed by biotinylated secondary antibody, alkaline phosphatase-streptavidin and chromogen.
Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin: Somatostatin Antibody [NBP1-50490] - Human Pancreas (formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded) stained with SST antibody at 5 ug/ml followed by biotinylated secondary antibody, alkaline phosphatase-streptavidin and chromogen.
Western Blot: Somatostatin Antibody [NBP1-87022] Lane 1: Marker [kDa] 250, 130, 95, 72, 55, 36, 28, 17, 10 | Lane 2: Negative control (vector only transfected HEK293T lysate) | Lane 3: Over-expression Lysate (Co-expressed with a C-terminal myc-DDK tag (~3.1 kDa) in mammalian HEK293T cells.
Formalin-fixed and paraffin embedded rat stomach tissue labeled with Anti-Somatostatin/GRIH Polyclonal Antibody, Unconjugated(bs-1132R) at 1:200 followed by conjugation to the secondary antibody and DAB staining
Immunohistochemical analysis of Somatostatin staining in human brain formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
