Background of Thrombospondin-2 (THBS2) antibody
Thrombospondin-2(TSP-2) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the THBS2 gene.And this gene is mapped to 6q27. The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the thrombospondin family. It is a disulfide-linked homotrimeric glycoprotein that mediates cell-to-cell and cell-to-matrix interactions. This protein has been shown to function as a potent inhibitor of tumor growth and angiogenesis. Studies of the mouse counterpart suggest that this protein may modulate the cell surface properties of mesenchymal cells and be involved in cell adhesion and migration. TSP-2 has been shown to interact with MMP2.
Immunohistochemistry: Thrombospondin 2 Antibody - Most of the normal tissues displayed moderate cytoplasmic positivity. Lymphoid tissues were weakly stained. Malignant tissues exhibited weak to moderate cytoplasmic immunoreactivity. Single cases of colo-rectal and hepatocellular carcinoma showed strong staining. HEK293T cells were transfected with the pCMV6-ENTRY control (Left lane) or pCMV6-ENTRY THBS2 (RC223225, Right lane) cDNA for 48 hrs and lysed. Equivalent amounts of cell lysates (5 ug per lane) were separated by SDS-PAGE and immunoblotted with anti-THBS2.
Western blot analysis of extracts (35ug) from 9 different cell lines by using anti-THBS2 polyclonal antibody (HepG2: human; HeLa: human; SVT2: mouse; A549: human; COS7: monkey; Jurkat: human; MDCK: canine; PC12: rat; MCF7: human).
